Here it is, the dreaded covers record. I had so much fun making this thing over the past year, sneaking studio time whenever the mighty David Spreng had an evening to lend his production skills. I had to get these songs out of my head or they were going to keep rattling around, taking up much needed space.

I was lucky enough to have my friends from Blondfire, Badflower and Freedom Fry lend their talents. I can't thank my friend James Iha enough for playing guitar on Candy Says, what a thrill. Steve Stout really helped bring this entire record to form and I am deeply indebted to him for making it sound good. Marni Lustig sings back up here and there, sweet sweet voice.

From top to bottom we played songs from Tammy Wynette/David Houston, Pink Mountaintops, Tom T Hall, Rolling Stones, The Velvet Underground, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Jesse Malin, Daniel Lanois, The Cars, Neil Young.

These are all songs I either grew up obsessing over or discovered later in life, going into constant repeat in my playlists because that's how I digest music - over and over and over and over.

I really wanted to record a song by my hero Leonard Cohen but his songs are massively over-covered so I gave him nod in the title.
